Wisconsin’s State Tree

Sugar maple

Wisconsin’s centennial occurred in 1948. When the Youth Committee of the Centennial Commission discovered Wisconsin’s state flower, tree, and bird had never been officially adopted, it sponsored a bill that was signed into law on June 4, 1949.

Thus, Wisconsin adopted the most popular state tree, one of the most popular state flowers and America’s most popular bird all in one fell swoop.
