Tottori’s Prefectural Bird

The exotic mandarin duck was adopted as the official bird of the prefectures of Nagasaki, Tottori (January 21, 1964) and Yamagata. Widely regarded as the most beautiful of ducks, it is closely related to the North American wood duck.
