Miyazaki’s Prefectural Tree

The Canary Island date palm was introduced to Miyazaki in 1916. Today, graceful palms line the coastal roads (Route 220) and adorn many local parks. They are especially associated with southern Miyazaki.

Note: The photo above may not include any Canary Island date palms though it probably does. At the least, it’s a pretty photo of a palm-lined road in Nango Town, Miyazaki. You can see some pictures of Canary Island date palms here.
